September/October Book Haul
Hey everyone,
First up, a huge apology for the lack of recent posts. I’ve been trying to take part in NaNo this month and I think everything’s getting a bit hectic. On top of that, I’m still only about halfway through KoA still, so there’s a bit of a delay on reviews.
However, I can bring you this [rather large] book haul for September and October. I started getting my scholarship funding in October, so there’s probably going to be fairly regular hauls from now on [as well as more unboxings].
Books I Bought:
- Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli. I loved the first book, so when I saw the next one was out, I knew I should get it. I think it’ll take me a while to get around to it, but I’m looking forward to it.
- The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke. I haven’t heard much of what this is about, but I have heard good things and I’m keen to get to it.
- Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand. Furyborn was so awesome, and I decided this book would be a brilliant read. I was not disappointed.
- Vengeful by V.E. Schwab. I bought this in September but it accidentally got sent to my parents’ house, so I haven’t gotten my hands on it until now. I can’t wait to dive into this book, and it is the first on my TBR once I’ve gotten through a few ARCs.
- A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir. Gah, why is this a different cover to my other editions? I probably won’t get to it too soon, but I still wanted to grab a hardback copy.
- Wildcard by Marie Lu. There’s actually a kind of cute story behind this buy. On my first date with my boyfriend last year, we went to the opticians [he had an appointment], then to waterstones where I picked up Warcross, and then to a cafe nearby for coffee. This year for our anniversary, he also weirdly had an appointment at the opticians, and then Waterstones had in Wildcard. It was such a funny coincidence that I knew I had to buy it. We then went to the same cafe. It was so good.
- Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor. Fortunately, this came out on the day I got paid, so you can bet I was straight in there to buy this gorgeous sprayed edges edition.
- Circe by Madeline Miller. I loved Song of Achilles when a friend recommended it to me this year, and I wanted to check out this one. Also, the cover is simply breathtaking.
- What if It’s Us? by Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli. I already read this in September as an e-book ARC but my friend got us tickets for their talk in London in October, and it came with a copy we could get signed.
- Only Love Can Break Your Heart by Katherine Webber. I met Katherine at YALC earlier this year and she was so sweet and her book sounded great.
- To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. Everyone has seen this on Netflix but I’ve been holding off on watching it until I read the book.
- Dry by Neal and Jared Schusterman. It’s not normally the type of book I’d read but I loved Scythe so much that I wanted to give it a try.
- Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas. Obviously I bought this as soon as it came out. And, I am still reading it.
Books From Book Boxes:
- The Light Between Worlds by Laura E. Weymouth came from October’s Book Box Club box.
- Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan came in October’s Fairyloot box.
- Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco came in an awesome birthday book box curated by my amazing birthday elf, Karoline.
Books from Friends:
- The Lost Witch by Melvin Burgess, given to me by Moon
- These Rebel Waves by Sara Raasch, also from Moon
- Emergency Contact by Mary H K Choi from Moon
- The Space Between Stars by Anne Corlett from Moon
- Wicked Like a Wildfire by Lana Ppopovik, given to me by Lis
- Catwoman: Soulstealer, also from Lis
Physical Books From Publishers:
- Soulbinder by Sebastien de Castell. I picked this one up at the Hot Key blogger’s brunch in September.
- [Not pictured] To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo. Also from the blogger’s brunch. I loved this book so much, and this is a second physical copy, so I’ll be either swapping it on a B/S/T group or doing a giveaway on here.
Ebook ARCs from Publishers:
- Skyward by Brandon Sanderson. This is the next book on my TBR list after Kingdom of Ash.
- The Gilded King by Josie Jaffrey. This is an indie book and the first in a series. I’ve read around half of it so far and it is so good.
Books from Elsewhere:
I also picked up a copy of The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry at a free book stall at uni.
And that’s it guys. Let me know what you all bought and/or read in September and October in the comment section below 😀

SO MANY BOOKS OH MY GOSH YOU ARE GOING TO BE BUSY.
I can personally hugely recommend Only Love Can Break Your Heart. It’s still reigning as my favourite book of 2018 at the moment and I squeal about it from the rooftops to anyone who will listen! I’m so happy you got to meet her at YALC! I wasn’t able to go this year and I would love to meet her – hopefully, I’ll get an opportunity in the near future. 🙂
