August Book Box Club: Fearless Females

August Book Box Club

August’s Book Box Club arrived just in time for my holiday to the Lake District. The theme was ‘Fearless Females’ which sounded AMAZING, so I was super-excited to see what would come.

I didn’t guess the book this month, although I was very happy to receive Things A Bright Girl Can Do by Sally Nicholls, since I had seen adverts for it at YALC in July and I liked the sound of it. There was the usual signed book plate, Q and A with the author, and an invite to the awesome book box club book club chat [wow, isn’t that a mouthful?].

Once again, this box contained an amazing candle by Meraki Candles. This one was themed around my favourite ever heroine, Hermione Granger. The scent was really sweet, smelling of plum, rose, and patchouli. I wasn’t initially sold on the fragrance, but after a couple of burns I’m really starting to like it.

This box also had a gorgeous notebook from Nikki Strange. It has palm leaves all over it, and says: ‘Girl Boss’ on the front. I think it’s really cool, and since I’ve just joined a Women and Gender reading group, I’m sure I’ll have many opportunities to use it. I’ve also bookmarked the shop for future spending sprees, because it looks perfect 😀

I also got an exclusive Crooked Kingdom inspired necklace created by Compton Four. There was a card back for the necklace with a quote from CK on it, but otherwise I’m not quite sure what the relevance is to the series. Even so, this necklace is very cute and unique, and I love how sparkly the green material on the world circle thing is. I have a lot of green and blue dresses, so this matches perfectly with many of my clothes. Woooo 😀

Next up was the Fight Like a Girl coaster by Munky Make and an exclusive Throne of Glass mega magnet from the Book Box Club girls. I especially love this coaster because it is just so cool, and I know when I’ve taken pics of it, or I’ve had friends around, that they usually comment on it. Even my mum thought it was really nice. The magnet was also great. I don’t use them all that much, because I don’t really have anywhere to put them. My uni room has a radiator that I’m scared to leave magnets on when it’s heating up [FYI: the radiator makes my room smell like burnt toast] and when I’m home, I don’t have anything magnetic except for the family fridge. One day though, I’m hoping to possess a kitchen of my own and then these items will find a perfect home 😀 This one is particularly cool, and it says: She was the heir of ash and fire and she would bow to no-one. How awesome is that?

As ever, I was very impressed by the Book Box Club box I received, and I am already excited to think what might be in the next one. The items are always well-sourced and I love how Libby and Kate take time to write members’ names on gifts and things. It just adds such a nice touch. I really can’t recommend them enough!
