Synopsis:
A prince who prefers games of the head to those of the heart.
Prince Sloth hates leaving his enchanted library, but when a forgotten deity threatens the very fabric of the Underworld, he’s thrust into a race against time. He must find the Book of Nightmares – an ancient artifact that has the power to break worlds – before it unleashes a deadly game to free its master, the Goddess of Night. When a betrayal leaves him marked, and desperate, his path collides with a young woman who possesses the legendary Phoenix Tear – a portal stone unlike any other.
A librarian who is all sweet sunshine . . . until she burns.
Lore Brimstone has always loved getting lost in a book – but she never meant literally. Yet, after visiting a traveling caravan, she quickly finds herself transported to a terrifying but oddly familiar world – with a calculating prince at her side. Realizing they are living out her favourite novels one by one, they face off against an increasingly dark magic as they try to survive the story.
A twisted tale that means they can’t trust themselves – or their hearts.
As Lore and Sloth navigate the pages of her beloved novels gone wrong, she must channel her inner main character to defeat the Book of Nightmares before the wall between the gods and mortals comes crashing down, dooming them all.
Why is this on my Wishlist?:
Hello friends and fellow bookworms, and welcome to another Wishlist Wednesday, where we discuss upcoming, anticipated releases that I’m most excited for.
This week, we’re looking at Throne of Nightmares by Kerri Maniscalco, the third book in the Prince of Sin series. Since it’s the third book, I feel like my reasons for being hyped for this one are pretty self-explanatory: I really loved book one and two! While Sloth isn’t one of my favourite princes from the series, I know Maniscalco has a way of endearing readers to her characters through amusing mishaps, interesting character arcs and the sheer angst of the romance. I also wasn’t the biggest fan of Envy prior to this spin-off series, but his book was probably my favourite. Maniscalco’s writing is lush and witty and will leave you craving more and the romance in particular is always well-written, slow enough to seem like a genuine connection, and even after three books in the original series and now three in the spin-off, it still seems like each story is unique, rather than resorting to the same tropes again and again. Just note that these books are on the spicier side, so do keep that in mind if you consider picking it up.

I quite enjoyed the first series but I read the first of this one and nearly dnf’d 😂 so haven’t been tempted to pick up the rest – I don’t know if I wasn’t in the mood or I found it a massive tonal change but it wasn’t doing a whole lot for me. I think I found it contradicted itself a fair bit 😂 glad you’ve been enjoying it though, cause the concept is fun!

Yeah, I enjoyed the Envy one because it was different enough but very amusing and I liked the female MC. The most recent one was a bit more of a mixed bag for me, and there were definitely some contradictions there! We’ll see what this one is like haha 🙂
