The Goodbye Girls Book Review
The Goodbye Girls by Lisa Harrington. From Goodreads: The students at Lizzie’s high school are notoriously terrible at breakups. Forget awkward conversations—they’re dumping each other via text. Inspired by the terrible breakups around her, sixteen-year-old Lizzie, strapped for cash and itching to go on the school’s band trip to NYC, teams up with her best friend, Willa, to create a genius business: personalized gift baskets—breakup baskets—sent from dumper to dumpee. The Goodbye Girls operate in secret, and business is booming. But it’s not long before someone begins sabotaging The Goodbye Girls, sending impossibly cruel baskets to seemingly random targets, undermining everything Lizzie and Willa have built and jeopardizing their anonymity. Soon family,…

July Haul and Wrap Up
Hey everyone, how’s it going? First up, I want to apologise for the lack of reviews and articles recently. Everything has been very hectic around here lately, and my partner has been ill, so I haven’t had too much time to read or post reviews. However, I was just at YALC this weekend and I will be posting a second haul soon full of all the books and swag that I picked up. There’ll also be a video going up on Youtube later today of the weekend in all its bookish wonderfulness. Anyhow, on to the haul, which as you can expect, was pretty huge this month. Books I Bought:…

The Miseducation of Cameron Post Book Review
The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth From Goodreads: When Cameron Post’s parents die suddenly in a car crash, her shocking first thought is relief. Relief they’ll never know that, hours earlier, she had been kissing a girl. But that relief doesn’t last, and Cam is forced to move in with her conservative aunt Ruth and her well-intentioned but hopelessly old-fashioned grandmother. She knows that from this point on, her life will forever be different. Survival in Miles City, Montana, means blending in and leaving well enough alone, and Cam becomes an expert at both. Then Coley Taylor moves to town. Beautiful, pickup-driving Coley is a perfect cowgirl with the…

Summer Read-a-Thon
Hey everyone, how are things? Since it’s been getting very summery recently, I thought today I’d talk about contemporary YA books. It’s that time of the year when people are looking to grab those books which are perfect for the beach or bringing along on a picnic, or poolside, so I thought I’d suggest doing a summer read-a-thon. It’s just going to be me reading a bunch of contemporary YA books that I’m hoping to really enjoy, and I’m going to try and read one per week so if anyone wants to read the same book in the same week and then discuss it at the end of the book…

Theatrical Blog Tour
Hey everyone, Today I’m the first stop on the blog tour for Maggie Harcourt’s new book Theatrical. The book follows Hope, as she interns on a major stage production at the theatre of her dreams. But with a distracting romance, lots of responsibility, a stroppy Hollywood star and a juicy secret Hope is determined to keep under wraps, she’s finding it hard to keep her cool. If you’ve seen my blog in the last week or so, you’ll know how much I LOVED this book. My review is here in case anyone wants to check that out, and I’ll be uploading a YouTube review of it soon too, if anyone is interested.…

Theatrical Book Review
Theatrical by Maggie Harcourt From Goodreads: Hope dreams of working backstage in a theatre, and she’s determined to make it without the help of her famous costume designer mum. So when she lands an internship on a major production, she tells no one. But with a stroppy Hollywood star and his hot young understudy upstaging Hope’s focus, she’s soon struggling to keep her cool… and her secret. Gorgeously fresh, funny and commercial YA romance from the author of Unconventional, and The Last Summer of Us. This was one of those books that made me hover by the front door, waiting for the postman to deliver it. Unconventional was one of my favourite YA reads…

Leah on the Offbeat Book Review
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli From Goodreads: Leah Burke—girl-band drummer, master of deadpan, and Simon Spier’s best friend from the award-winning Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda—takes center stage in this novel of first love and senior-year angst. When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat—but real life isn’t always so rhythmic. An anomaly in her friend group, she’s the only child of a young, single mom, and her life is decidedly less privileged. She loves to draw but is too self-conscious to show it. And even though her mom knows she’s bisexual, she hasn’t mustered the courage to tell her friends—not even her openly gay BFF, Simon.…

And a messy, complicated, can-this-really-be-happening love story or two… Since the moment they met, best friends Aubrey and Rae have been planning their inter-railing trip around Europe. RIP It Or Ship It Book Tag
Hey everyone, So today I thought I’d bring you one of my favourite BookTube tags, RIP It or Ship It. The original tag was created by Emma’s Books, and since she posts some great stuff you should definitely check her videos out here. The rules of the game are simple. I’m going to put a lot of fictional characters’ names into a cup and draw them out two at a time. Once I have a pairing, I’ll tell you if I RIP it or if I ship it. There’s going to be names from a variety of YA fantasy novels and series, so hopefully there’ll be some interesting pairings…
