    Book Events: YALC 2019

I know, I know, this is coming to you late. This month has been horrendous for academic deadlines, and I’ve had to do a lot of work in quite a rush, and between that and the long hours spent at my laptop trying to make my brain focus, I ended up going on a sort of impromptu hiatus. Which means my review of YALC and a breakdown of the gigantic haul I snagged while I was there, has been put back to now. As some of you may know, at the end of July, I attended the Young Adult Literature Convention with some of my favourite people in the world.…

    Book Eevents: BookCon 2019

Hey everyone, Yes, I was away in New York attending Bookcon last week. And now that the jetlag is finally falling away a bit, I thought it was time to talk a little bit about my experiences. I know there’s going to be a lot of posts floating around at the moment about the event, so I’m hoping you’ll stick with me just a little bit longer to find out what I did while I was there as I feel like my experiences of the convention will be a little bit different (also, it was my first time, so you’re getting the newbie experience here). I don’t have a whole…

Hot Key Books Bloggers Brunch Event

Hey everyone, So on Saturday I got invited to go to a special book bloggers brunch at Hot Key Books HQ in London. Obviously, I said yes and, with a rather empty stomach and a super early start, I boarded the coach to London to meet up with a bunch of authors, bloggers and publishers. And it was so awesome. The venue was very packed, and I think to some extent they didn’t anticipate quite so many people turning up. But it was really nice. After grabbing a cup of tea with a fellow blogger called Rubin thanks to turning up too early, we went inside and were immediately…

    Preparing for YALC

Hey everyone, With YALC just a few short weeks away and a whole load of reading to be done in that time, I thought I could make today’s post about preparing for YALC– looking at some of the biggest authors who will be making appearances, some of the awesome books worth checking out, and what is still on my YALC TBR. For those of you not in the know, YALC is a part of comic-con in London and is a special floor just for YA stuff. It includes lots of publisher stalls, some merch stalls [Geeky Clean, Fairyloot and Book Box Club all made an appearance last year and will…

Orphan Monster Spy Book Launch Party

AKA The One Where We Got Lost and Drunk in London My day started ridiculously early. I’m one of those awful people who can’t manage anything more than the basic zombie functions without a cup of coffee, so I had one and felt a touch more human before I left the house to get the coach to London, but I also stopped at Costa for a large latte with an extra shot. This was probably a mistake. Not least because, while my friend was catching some zzz’s on the three and a half hour coach journey, I was quite literally jittering in my seat while blasting Halsey, trying not to…
