AAPI Month Book Recommendations
Hi everyone, So, itâs almost the end of May, but I didnât want to let the month just slip away without posting some book recommendations for AAPI month. There have been some amazing releases by Asian American and Pacific Islander authors in recent months, so now is definitely the time to add a few books to those teetering tbrs. AAPI month is a great chance to celebrate the AAPI community. My list includes several new releases, as well as one or two recommendations of books that Iâve read and loved over the past few years. Spin the Dawn and Unravel the Dusk by Elizabeth Lim. Okay, Iâm kind of…

Recommendations: YA Books by Black Authors
Hey everyone, Hope your Mondays are all going okay. Today, I wanted to take an opportunity to highlight some amazing YA books by Black authors. In light of what’s happening in America and around the world right now, I want to do my best to continue to educate myself on these issues, and to do better in making sure to support Black authors and creators going forwards. In the interests of full disclosure the list of books I’m posting today is going to be split into three parts– books that I’ve read that I’m recommending, books that are currently on my TBR and I will hopefully get to soon, and…

Book Recommendations
Hey everyone, A few weeks ago, I posted my list of fantasy book recommendations for you all. This week, I’m posting my sci-fi ones The Sci-fi books I always recommend [YA/Adult] Cinder by Marissa Meyer. The first in the Lunar Chronicles. It’s a sci-fi retelling of Cinderella, with cyborgs and mysterious diseases and a pretty awesome romance thrown in there for good measure. Cinder isn’t necessarily my favourite in the series, but I do think it’s a bloody good book, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who likes a dose of fairytale added to their science fiction. Warcross by Marie Lu. This is the first in a duology about a…

My Fantasy Book Recommendations List
Hey everyone, So it’s been a little while since I posted on here [I’m sorry, uni work always seems to pile up when you least expect it] but today I wanted to upload something a friend actually requested I write… a list of recommendations. Most of these will obviously be YA since that’s my favourite age-category, but a few here and there will be adult-marketed fantasy or thrillers. Anyhow, I’m going to try and give you a thing or two about each book that I love too, so you know what might suit you from my huge list đ Actually, as a quick edit, I’ve decided to break this into…

Top Ten: Autumn Reads
Hey everyone, So seeing as we’re now part-way through October, I thought I would share with you my top recommended books for Autumn. I always love this time of year for so many reasons– my uni campus looks stunning, the leaves on the ground, cups of pumpkin spice coffee, Halloween around the corner, bonfire smells and of course, the excuse to snuggle up on the sofa in warm blankets and jumpers with a really good book. Most of these recommendations are YA, since that’s what I mostly read, but there’s a few which are non-YA that I enjoy reading so much at this time of year that I couldn’t resist…

LGBTQ+ Book Recommendations
Hey everyone, how’s it going? As you may or may not know, June is America’s LGBT History Month and while I’m not American, I thought this would be the perfect time to recommend some brilliant and diverse books which promote and discuss LGBT issues. These include some pretty well-known series, as well as some lesser known ones which may have slipped under your radar. I include the names of series where sometimes the diversity comes a little later, in case you pick up one of these books and wonder what the hell I’m talking about. So sit back, relax, and grab a cup of coffee as I go through my…

YA Fairytale Retellings: Part Two
Hello again, everyone. How are you all doing? Today is Thursday, which means it is time for a new post and as promised today will bring you part two of my YA Fairytale Retelling Recommendations. There’s magic, mayhem and good doses of creepiness in store. As with the first part of this post, I should remind you guys that this post MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. I’m trying not to spoil the books I’m recommending, but if I’m recommending the second or third book in a series, then I’m going to have to give a spoilery synopsis for books earlier in the series. Cool, let’s get into this then: Rumplestiltskin Retelling: Spinning Silver by Naomi…

YA Fairytale Retellings: Part One
Hey everyone, Today is Sunday, and that means another bookish post! There’s a huge trend in YA at the moment for fairytale retellings, so today’s post is going to look at YA recommendations based on different fairytales. Since it’s a pretty long list, I’m going to be splitting it into two sections, with the second part posted on Thursday. Some of these recommendations are based on things like Alice in Wonderland, but we’re so familiar with these stories that it makes sense to include them in this list too đ Please note that this post contains SPOILERS. Not for the books themselves, but some of them are second or third books in…
