    Summer Bird Blue Review

    April 3, 2019 / No Comments

From Goodreads: Rumi Seto spends a lot of time worrying she doesn’t have the answers to everything. What to eat, where to go, whom to love. But there is one thing she is absolutely sure of—she wants to spend the rest of her life writing music with her younger sister, Lea. Then Lea dies in a car accident, and her mother sends her away to live with her aunt in Hawaii while she deals with her own grief. Now thousands of miles from home, Rumi struggles to navigate the loss of her sister, being abandoned by her mother, and the absence of music in her life. With the help of…

    Starfish Book Review

    April 19, 2018 / No Comments

Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman From Goodreads: Kiko Himura has always had a hard time saying exactly what she’s thinking. With a mother who makes her feel unremarkable and a half-Japanese heritage she doesn’t quite understand, Kiko prefers to keep her head down, certain that once she makes it into her dream art school, Prism, her real life will begin. But then Kiko doesn’t get into Prism, at the same time her abusive uncle moves back in with her family. So when she receives an invitation from her childhood friend to leave her small town and tour art schools on the west coast, Kiko jumps at the opportunity in spite of the…

Hi, and welcome in! I’m Kelly (she/her) a thirty-year old book blogger with a doctorate in YA Studies, and self-confessed caffeine fiend. When I’m not at work or reading, you can usually find me with the biggest coffee to hand, playing video or board games. I live with my boyfriend Alex and our beautiful ragdoll kittens, Ahri, Galio, and Zed, in Nottingham. From an early age, I’ve loved reading, especially fantasy novels, and Coffeestarsbooks is the space I grew to share my enthusiasm with others.

― Nikita Gill, Hekate

Hey friends and fellow readers, it's very almost the weekend. I am so ready to curl up in bed with my Steamdeck and books (and maybe a warm coffee too) and basically just hibernate until Christmas. Sadly, I'm not sure that's a real option.
.
.
💭 Do you ever read mythology or poetry?

I picked up Hekate after playing some Hades 2 (I haven't finished yet so no spoilers please!) and loved it, but I didn't realise until I opened the book that it was poetry. It was an interesting read though, even if it's not what I usually gravitate towards. I posted my full review on my blog! (www.coffeestarsbooks.com)

Hey friends and fellow bookworms! It's been a long long Tuesday and right now I'm dreaming of just curling up with a good book. But I did have a productive day yesterday, scheduling book blog posts for the next couple of weeks. It's been nice to ease back into that, and I have a few exciting projects to reveal soon! And tomorrow, I might possibly be getting a Kindle. There was a huge mess with Amazon today, but it looks as though I might still receive a Kindle tomorrow...maybe.

Hi, wonderful bookish people!

How are we already almost at the edge of November. Time has really flown this year. I'm very very behind on my reading goals, but I've got so many amazing books to read and a lot of great games to play too, so I feel a bit like a cosy little woodland animal hoarding all the treats ready to hibernate haha.

This was one of my more anticipated reads for this end of the year and a warm hug of a book, perfect for this slide into the chilly winter days. What is everyone else reading at the moment?

Hi friends! I haven't posted much this year (or r Hi friends!

I haven't posted much this year (or read that much for that matter!) but I saw this prompt floating around and thought it would be a good way to challenge myself for the last few months of the year. Except I picked out 11 books, because I have a lot on my tbr! I'm nit actually sure where to start either, because there's so many books I'm excited to read on this list. If anyone has any suggestions, I am easily swayed!

Hey friends, Just started Arcana Academy yesterda Hey friends,

Just started Arcana Academy yesterday. The worldbuilding is very intriguing and I love a good bit of enemies to lovers too. This book seems to be so hyped at the moment, so I'm hoping it's a good read! This gorgeous waterstones edition came signed with these beautiful endpages, I obviously couldn't resist!

Hey friends, Good evening! Hope you've had a fant Hey friends,

Good evening! Hope you've had a fantastic day. I'm slowly but surely reorganising bookshelves, and while I know it isn't the best way to find my books on the shelf, I have to appreciate the sprayed and stencilled edges on my special editions! And in unrelated news, I also finished drafting my first chapter of my novel today, so of course I took myself out for cake and an iced coffee.
