April Fairyloot ‘Whimsical Journeys’ Unboxing

FLUnboxing

Hi everyone,

Today I’m bringing you an unboxing of Fairyloot’s April box, which was themed around ‘Whimsical Journeys.’ The reason this unboxing is coming to you so late is because there was an issue with one of the items in the box, so Fairyloot ended up sending them out a little late last month. Still, that just means that this month is going to be jam-packed with unboxings, woo!

As ever, the box came with a gorgeous spoiler card from the usual Fairyloot artist. This one might be one of my faves so far, since it just captures everything I love about spring– the blossoms, the blue sky… I really love this one, and it’s going straight on my wall.

The next thing I spotted was the exclusive reusable coffee mug by Ink and Wonder. It’s inspired by Narnia, and has a beautiful map of all the wonderful places I loved in the books, as well as an Aslan compass on the side. It’s a bit annoying that this is where the seam is, breaking up his face, but hey ho it isn’t the end of the world. I think this is my favourite item in the box, simply because it is so pretty and so useful for me. As the name of this blog implies, I’m a biiiiiiig coffee drinker, so this handy reusable mug is going to save me and the environment next time I want to bring coffee to a lecture or order a Starbucks drink to take away.

Next, there’s a Fantastic Beasts luggage tag by Lovely Owl Books [I’m sorry I can’t seem to find a link for this store]. This is another exclusive item, inspired by Newt Scamander and his suitcase of magical creatures. I’ve honestly never seen one of these in a box before, so I thought it was very cute, and it fits the theme so well. Next time I take a trip, I will be sure to fasten it to my suitcase.

Then we have the exclusive Leif’s Ship Candle from Flick the Wick. As soon as I saw it, I knew the Book Bx Sherlock group were right in guessing the book, so I was pretty pleased to see this. It smells of spruce, fir and sandalwood and it’s a very masculine smell, but it really also does smell like a ship. Definitely will be burning this one while I read the book!

In addition to all this, there’s an amazing tote bag designed by Stella’s Bookish Art. This is another exclusive item, and it was inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. I fell head over heels for this bag immediately because the design is so well thought out; it totally looks like a hobbit home. And there’s a quote on it which reads: I’m going on an adventure.’ This one will be accompanying me next time I venture to the book store for a big haul.

Next we have an exclusive Blackjack enamel pin by Taratjah. It’s inspired by the Percy Jackson books, but I’ve only read the first one (I know, I know) so I haven’t met Blackjack yet as far as I recall. Still, it’s a pretty neat pin and I love Ttaratjah’s stuff, so I’ll be keeping hold of this one.

Then there’s a Fictional Places art print by Fictiontea Designs. This one is just so sweet. I mean, not only does it have the obvious places on it like Hogwarts, Camp Halfblood and Narnia, but it also has Velaris, Red London, Caraval and Cabeswater too. This one will also be going up on my wall.

Finally, we have the last item before the book. This one is a notepad inspired by The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken and it reads ‘let’s carpe the hell out of this diem’ which I can’t remember reading as a quote when I read the book, but obviously I’ve just forgotten it. It’s got quite a lot of space to write on it, which I really appreciate, so I’ll be using this one at my desk. This one was made by Little Inkling Designs.

There’s a few bonus promotional items too. This time round, there’s a button for Ace of Shades and a These Fates Divide bookmark.

Just the book now. The book of the month is Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake. This one is a standalone, filled to the brim with Celtic and Norse Mythology. I read about it a few months ago, and knew it was likely to be the book included in this month’s Fairyloot, so I was very pleased to see it here, and with the exclusive gold foiling too. It’s so pretty! As ever, it comes with a signed bookplate, letter from the author and this time there’s a sticker too!

Well, that concludes this month’s Fairyloot. I’m super impressed by the volume and quality of these items, especially since I heard some very mixed reviews about the March anniversary box. This month’s theme is Save The Kingdom, and it sounds like it will be awesome, so if you want some of the awesome swag for yourself you should definitely order the box soon.

Stay tuned, I’m going to be doing two more unboxings this month, one for Book Box Club and one for my first ever Illumicrate. These will be the last boxes I get for a few months until I can find myself a job and make sure I can make rent and things, so it might be a while before I post another one.
