September/October Book Haul
Hey everyone, First up, a huge apology for the lack of recent posts. I’ve been trying to take part in NaNo this month and I think everything’s getting a bit hectic. On top of that, I’m still only about halfway through KoA still, so there’s a bit of a delay on reviews. However, I can bring you this [rather large] book haul for September and October. I started getting my scholarship funding in October, so there’s probably going to be fairly regular hauls from now on [as well as more unboxings]. Books I Bought: Caged Queen by Kristen Ciccarelli. I loved the first book, so when I saw the next…

Muse of Nightmares Book Review
Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor From Goodreads: Sarai has lived and breathed nightmares since she was six years old. She believed she knew every horror and was beyond surprise. She was wrong. One a god, the other a ghost, they struggle to grasp the new boundaries of their selves as dark-minded Minya holds them hostage, intent on vengeance against Weep. Lazlo faces an unthinkable choice—save the woman he loves, or everyone else?—while Sarai feels more helpless than ever. But is she? Sometimes, only the direst need can teach us our own depths, and Sarai, the Muse of Nightmares,…

Top Ten: Autumn Reads
Hey everyone, So seeing as we’re now part-way through October, I thought I would share with you my top recommended books for Autumn. I always love this time of year for so many reasons– my uni campus looks stunning, the leaves on the ground, cups of pumpkin spice coffee, Halloween around the corner, bonfire smells and of course, the excuse to snuggle up on the sofa in warm blankets and jumpers with a really good book. Most of these recommendations are YA, since that’s what I mostly read, but there’s a few which are non-YA that I enjoy reading so much at this time of year that I couldn’t resist…

There’s also the alarming issue of whether or not her sisters are actually dead—or if they’re waiting in the wings to usurp the throne. What If It’s Us? Book Review
What if It’s Us? by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera From Goodreads: Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it. Ben thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things. But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them? Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated. Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited. But what if they…

Hot Key Books Bloggers Brunch Event
Hey everyone, So on Saturday I got invited to go to a special book bloggers brunch at Hot Key Books HQ in London. Obviously, I said yes and, with a rather empty stomach and a super early start, I boarded the coach to London to meet up with a bunch of authors, bloggers and publishers. And it was so awesome. The venue was very packed, and I think to some extent they didn’t anticipate quite so many people turning up. But it was really nice. After grabbing a cup of tea with a fellow blogger called Rubin thanks to turning up too early, we went inside and were immediately…

The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding Book Review
The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken From Goodreads: I would say it’s a pleasure to meet thee, Prosperity Oceanus Redding, but truly, I only anticipate the delights of destroying thy happiness. Prosper is the only unexceptional Redding in his old and storied family history — that is, until he discovers the demon living inside him. Turns out Prosper’s great-great-great-great-great-something grandfather made — and then broke — a contract with a malefactor, a demon who exchanges fortune for eternal servitude. And, weirdly enough, four-thousand-year-old Alastor isn’t exactly the forgiving type. The fiend has reawakened with one purpose — to destroy the family whose success he ensured and who then betrayed…

Thunderhead Book Review
Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman From Goodreads: Rowan has gone rogue, and has taken it upon himself to put the Scythedom through a trial by fire. Literally. He is a dark folk hero now—“Scythe Lucifer”—a vigilante taking down corrupt scythes in flames. Citra, now a junior scythe under Scythe Curie, sees the corruption and wants to help change it from the inside out, but is thwarted at every turn, and threatened by the “new order” scythes.
