July TBR: 2020
Since we’re now a few days into July, I thought I’d share my To Be Read list for this month. My apartment is slowly getting taken over by books. There’s no room on the shelves, and there are several teetering piles of novels in the bedroom, so I’ve had to put myself on a physical book buying ban until we (hopefully) move in September to (hopefully) somewhere with more space for shelves. I’m still getting monthly boxes from Illumicrate and Fairyloot, and I’ve still treated myself to the special edition Shades of Magic box, but I think, unless there are any other incredibly amazing special edition boxes coming out between…

Book Events: YALC 2019
I know, I know, this is coming to you late. This month has been horrendous for academic deadlines, and I’ve had to do a lot of work in quite a rush, and between that and the long hours spent at my laptop trying to make my brain focus, I ended up going on a sort of impromptu hiatus. Which means my review of YALC and a breakdown of the gigantic haul I snagged while I was there, has been put back to now. As some of you may know, at the end of July, I attended the Young Adult Literature Convention with some of my favourite people in the world.…

July Haul and Wrap Up
Hey everyone, how’s it going? First up, I want to apologise for the lack of reviews and articles recently. Everything has been very hectic around here lately, and my partner has been ill, so I haven’t had too much time to read or post reviews. However, I was just at YALC this weekend and I will be posting a second haul soon full of all the books and swag that I picked up. There’ll also be a video going up on Youtube later today of the weekend in all its bookish wonderfulness. Anyhow, on to the haul, which as you can expect, was pretty huge this month. Books I Bought:…

Summer Read-a-Thon
Hey everyone, how are things? Since it’s been getting very summery recently, I thought today I’d talk about contemporary YA books. It’s that time of the year when people are looking to grab those books which are perfect for the beach or bringing along on a picnic, or poolside, so I thought I’d suggest doing a summer read-a-thon. It’s just going to be me reading a bunch of contemporary YA books that I’m hoping to really enjoy, and I’m going to try and read one per week so if anyone wants to read the same book in the same week and then discuss it at the end of the book…

Preparing for YALC
Hey everyone, With YALC just a few short weeks away and a whole load of reading to be done in that time, I thought I could make today’s post about preparing for YALC– looking at some of the biggest authors who will be making appearances, some of the awesome books worth checking out, and what is still on my YALC TBR. For those of you not in the know, YALC is a part of comic-con in London and is a special floor just for YA stuff. It includes lots of publisher stalls, some merch stalls [Geeky Clean, Fairyloot and Book Box Club all made an appearance last year and will…

July TBR
Hi everyone, Since we’re now a few days into July, I thought I’d share my To Be Read list for this month. I was hoping to keep it short and sweet this month, since there’s still a lot going on, but I’ve already started hauling this month [it turns out I will be much more financially stable come October than I anticipated, so I should be hauling more books more regularly now]. So obviously the TBR pile is growing like crazy 😀 Anyhow, here is the list of books I’m hoping to read this month: All These Beautiful Strangers by Elizabeth Klehfoth. I thought I’d clear the YALC books out the…

July Book Box Club: Spells and Remedies
July’s Book Box Club theme was ‘Spells and Remedies.’ I furrowed my brow for quite a while trying to figure out what the book could be, and I didn’t actually guess it, but I thought the premise of The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy sounded quite nice, and I liked the idea that it included lots of book quotes in the plot. Alongside the book, I also got a signed bookplate, Q and A pages from the author, and an invite to the unashamedly bookish Book Box Club book group. This box had a lot of cute merch in it. The first thing I saw was the Exclusive Raven Boys soap by…

June Book Box Club: Schoolroom Scandals
June’s Book Box Club box was the first one I was a little unsure of, since I’d only just started to get into contemporary YA fiction again. I’m definitely more of a fantasy and sci-fi gal, and I’m pretty picky when it comes to contemporary fiction. But, just before they hinted at the book for June, I started reading Geekerella, and I really got into it, so I decided I would trust in Book Box Club to pick an excellent book. I sort of figured it would be One of Us is Lying before the box was sent out; just as well, since I almost almost bought this when it…
